Some concerns are cosmetic, some are functional, and some are both; rhinoplasty patients in particular benefit from surgeons who specialize in plastic surgery and airway function at the same time.

RhinoplastyNose surgery performed for cosmetic or medical reasons, and sometimes both. The functioning of your nose matters as much as how it looks. Facelift, face and neck liftsTightens and firms the skin of the face and neck. Results can last over ten years, which makes it a different decision than injections. Brow and forehead liftsCorrects sagging of the forehead, upper eyelids and eyebrows, endoscopically or with Botox as the non-surgical alternative. Eyelid surgeryBlepharoplasty removes extra muscle, fat or skin around the eyes. It can be medical, when drooping lids impair vision, or cosmetic. Injectables and skin treatments.

BotoxFDA approved for wrinkles since 2002, and useful medically for facial pain, spasms and TMJ. Results show within days and last around six months. RadiesseA dermal filler of calcium microspheres that stimulates your own collagen. Results last a year or more from a single treatment. Lip fillersFuller lips through collagen or Perlane injections in about ten minutes, or a permanent surgical implant. Chemical and glycolic peelsPeels away dead layers of skin to reveal a brighter complexion; glycolic peels are the gentlest, with little downtime. Microdermabrasion and skin rejuvenationResurfaces and clarifies skin: wrinkles, pigmentation, sunspots, scars and loss of tone. Laser resurfacingLight vaporizes precise amounts of skin tissue while heat stimulates new collagen, for lines, scars and sun damage.

Expectations, set honestly.

Recovery ranges from none at all, Botox needs no downtime, to several weeks for surgical procedures. Results vary by person, and a good consultation says so before anything is scheduled. Realistic goals are set together, then met.

  • Function and appearance follow different paths, including with insurance. Some treatments with a medical purpose, Botox among them, may be covered, and the office works with your insurance company.

What happens at a facial plastic surgery consultation?

It begins with what concerns you, not with a procedure. The consultation makes room for questions, expectations and a clear explanation of the available options, including whether your concern is cosmetic, functional or both, and what each path would involve.

What is the difference between Botox and a filler like Radiesse?

They work differently. Botox relaxes overactive muscles so the skin above them smooths, with results in three to five days that last around six months. Radiesse fills: calcium microspheres pad the injection site and stimulate your own collagen, with results lasting a year or more.

Is rhinoplasty medical or cosmetic?

It can be either, and sometimes both. Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose for appearance, repairs injury, corrects birth defects and relieves breathing problems. Because the nose has to work as well as look right, it matters that the surgeon specializes in both plastic surgery and airway function.

How long do results last?

It depends on the treatment. Botox lasts around six months, collagen lip injections about twelve weeks, Perlane up to seven months, Radiesse a year or more, and a facelift can last over ten years. Results vary by person, and the consultation sets expectations honestly.
